In August of 2012, I had the distinct pleasure of being onstage in Las Vegas as part of the presentation that introduced the CEREC Omnicam to the world. It was apparent from that introduction to all current and prospective users of the CEREC technology that the Omnicam was a game-changer.
While there is no doubt that the high rate of adoption for the Omnicam has led to easier and faster imaging for all CEREC users, it was not until today with the introduction of the CEREC Ortho software that the full potential of the CEREC Omnicam has been fully realised.
The CEREC Ortho software allows the doctor to not have to take a physical impression. The full arch scans required for orthodontic treatment can be sent digitally with the CEREC Ortho software.
The software leads users through the guided scanning process to ensure that the Omnicam captures all of the required information necessary for treatment. Acoustic signals, images and brief on-screen explanations assist users in capturing a full arch with ease.
Once the data is collected, it can be easily exported for orthodontic treatment planning and the fabrication of orthodontic aligners and appliances. Direct integration with Invisalign® and ClearCorrect® is now available as well as links to other providers like Truline™ through the CEREC Connect portal.
