Philips has introduced the new Sonicare AirFloss Ultra, a revolutionary product designed to provide an easy and effective way to clean in-between teeth and achieve healthier gums in just four weeks.1 The new and improved interdental cleaning device includes a host of innovative features and is proven to improve gum health in non-compliant patients who don't floss regularly.1
"Based on feedback from dental practitioners, we focused on upgrading the existing model with new specifications designed to improve interproximal plaque removal and make interdental cleaning even easier," said Sinead Kwant, Category Leader for Philips Oral Healthcare. "In laboratory studies, our improved proprietary 'Microburst' technology removed up to 99.9 per cent of plaque, although results will vary from patient to patient."2
A recent clinical study of the Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra reported up to 97 per cent of users had improved gum health in just four weeks.1 While the Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra has not been designed to replace dental floss, for those people who already floss consistently, it is clinically proven to be as effective as string floss for improved gum health (when used in conjunction with an anti-microbial rinse in patients with mild to moderate gingivitis). In addition, in a recent survey of U.S. patients, 82 per cent said they found the Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra easier to use than the leading oral irrigator.3
Philips knows that gum health is dependent on both interproximal plaque removal and the management of residual interproximal bactericidal activity. With this in mind, a larger reservoir space has been incorporated into the latest design, encouraging patients to use the Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra with their favourite mouthwash. While dental floss and other interdental cleaning devices are focused on plaque removal, the Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra can tackle both, through the incorporation of anti-microbial mouthwash into the regime. Due to this feature the Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra offers superior microbial killing efficacy making it an excellent option for non-flossing patients who are trying to improve their oral hygiene routine.
The Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra features Philips Sonicare's proprietary technology, which has been combined with a new "Triple Burst" function that delivers three powerful blasts of liquid (mouthwash or water) and air to remove plaque and unwanted bacteria more effectively and efficiently than previous models. Philips also recognises that for the large majority of patients who do not floss regularly and who most commonly cite inconvenience as their reason for not flossing (too much time, too difficult, etc.), the Philips Sonicare AirFloss Ultra, with its new, sleek design, will provide a great interdental cleaning option.
