The Australian Dental Association (SA) has appointed Dr Janet Fuss as President. The ADASA represents approximately 70% of South Australian dentists and aims to promote ethical standards in dentistry, improve the oral and general health of the community and advance dental science and practice.
Dr Fuss, an Associate Professor in the Adelaide School of Dentistry has private, public and university clinical dentistry experience and has taught for over 20 years. She currently teaches oral diagnosis and radiology, and coordinates Continuing Professional Development.
Dr Fuss sits on the national ADA Dental Workforce and Education Committee as well as a number of committees at The University of Adelaide. She has previously been a member of both the Dental Board of South Australia and the SA Health Practitioner Tribunal.
In addition, Dr Fuss has held a number of executive positions at the ADASA, including President and Vice President.
ADASA CEO, Mr Peter Gardner, said he looked forward to welcoming Dr Fuss back to the role of ADASA President.
Dr Fuss said she was delighted to accept the position of ADASA President.
"I wish to thank the outgoing President, Dr Jack Gaffey, for his outstanding efforts over the past year," Dr Fuss said.
"In my role as President, I aim to contribute to the ADASA's development and ongoing success.
"Immediately, however, I will focus on ADASA working with the profession to secure the future of the Adelaide School of Dentistry to ensure the supply of dental practitioners for South Australia."
