Sirona Dental Systems has announced it will launch a new CEREC milling machine, the MC XL.
In addition to the new milling machine, Sirona will also launch enhanced CEREC 3D software with Biogeneric technology at the Chicago Midwinter Dental Meeting in February.
The MC XL mills a quality, precisely fitting restoration in just 4 to 12 minutes - approximately twice as fast as the current CEREC milling unit. The MC XL enhances the level of precision and accuracy of CEREC, creating restorations that satisfy even the most critical requirements of dentists.
MC XL's fine tolerances will be especially appreciated by doctors who demand the most precise restoration possible. The new milling unit has an easy-to-read, intuitive display, a large milling door for easy access to the milling chamber and automatic block placement. These enhanced capabilities should result in even higher efficiency and profitability for dentists than the current system enables.
The original CEREC 3 milling unit continues to be an option for dentists with lower production requirements. Both the MC XL and the original milling unit are compatible with all CEREC 3 units, allowing a smooth transition to the new technology for existing CEREC owners who wish to upgrade.
The new CEREC 3D software has been enhanced with powerful, straight-forward tools and a simple, predictable workflow. The new software, based on Sirona's patented Biogeneric technology, has been developed to eliminate the learning curve, allowing dentists to easily create sophisticated dental restorations. Sirona's Biogeneric software allows the computer to create the optimal restoration for inlays and onlays, utilizing information drawn from a library of thousands of natural teeth. The software effortlessly restores missing tooth structure in the most natural way possible, making the process of designing highly aesthetic and functional restorations within reach of everyone.
"The MC XL, with faster milling speed, coupled with its ability to mill precise and accurate restorations is now an even more compelling choice for all high volume dentists," said Mr Jost Fischer, Chairman, President and CEO of Sirona. "Sirona's Biogeneric software significantly reduces the complexity of the CEREC method for new users. Taken together, these developments represent a significant advancement in dental CAD/CAM technology."
