Nobel Biocare opens Melbourne training centre

Nobel Biocare has launched its state-of-the-art training centre in South Melbourne with a busy program of lectures and demonstrations at the Dorcas Street facility.

A-dec Australia played a vital role in the establishment of the new facility by supplying the A-dec® 500 chair and delivery system at the heart of the surgery.

The facility is also fully equipped with a state-of-the-art A-dec Preference™ ICC (Infection Control Centre) in the adjacent sterilization room, enabling swift and thorough sterilization.

The A-dec chair is located in a dedicated 'live' surgery used to demonstrate implant techniques that can be filmed or photographed for viewing in real time on a large video screen in the adjacent training room.

Nobel Biocare Training Coordinator, Sheree Hines, said the often complex procedures were filmed live on a video camera and also recorded as part of an ongoing training program for both experienced practitioners, new users and students.

"Implant surgery is ideally viewed first hand to give dental practitioners the training and experience to embark on these techniques themselves. This is especially important given the continual development of new techniques and implant technology which have evolved over time," Ms Hines said.

"The training facility has been tremendously well received by dentists, students and specialists. We have a full program of activities for the year and have attracted top local and visiting clinicians to demonstrate.

"The live theatre works perfectly and is a completely state of the art facility. We are especially pleased with the A-dec 500 chair which not only looks modern and sophisticated, but also gives unequalled access to the patient during complex procedures."

Complementing the A-dec 500 chair is A-dec's top of the line 'Preference ICC' sterilization solution located in the adjacent sterilization room equipped with Lisa Type 'B' Sterilizers, a washer disinfector, sinks, dedicated storage for instruments and trays and all arranged in a logical 'work-flow' process.
