Miele Professional Australia is launching a new range of thermal disinfectors offering great capacity, safety and convenience aimed at dental practices and surgeries in 2016. In order to promote fast, safe and economic sterilisation of instruments, Miele Professional Australia is also launching the new EXCELLENCE table-top steriliser in 2016 too.
Innovative water circulation system
At the heart of this new series of 60 cm wide units is an innovative water circulation system which combines higher capacity with the reduced use of resources. A patented, variable-speed circulation pump now regulates water pressure in line with the needs of individual programme phases. This saves both water and energy. All the heating elements are now integrated into the circulation pump and are hence no longer visible inside the chamber and can therefore no longer cause soil to accumulate. In combination with the smooth, laser-welded chamber seams, this sets new standards in terms of hygiene. Furthermore, the new pump heats up the water in circulation fast, thereby contributing towards shorter cycles.
The introduction of both water and drying air into load carriers has also undergone improvements. Both now enter the cabinet via the rear panel and not, as previously the case, via the chamber ceiling. The water is then channelled through a horizontal spray guide to the spray arm in a loss-free way, resulting in the more efficient use of resources. Any valves not used by docked baskets are also now sealed automatically in order to avoid any unnecessary drop in pressure in the remaining system and in order to reduce water consumption. Spray arm and spray pressure monitoring guarantees proper reprocessing.
More efficient drying of instruments
When it comes to drying instruments, the new generation of machines combines efficiency with user convenience. After the last rinse cycle, steam is drawn into the steam condenser at the rear of the unit where it condenses back to water. On the PG8581 model with the EcoDry feature, the machine door automatically opens at the end of a programme once the temperature in the cabinet has dropped below 70°C. This allows remaining hot, moisture-laden air to escape within a short space of time, leaving the load reliably dry and allowing items to cool down fast.
On the PG8591 model with active DryPlus drying, moisture remaining in the cabinet is absorbed by the heated drying air and expelled to atmosphere via the steam condenser. A highly efficient HEPA Class H13 particulate filter prevents airborne particles from the ambient room air from entering the drying system and contaminating the instruments.
On all models, the door is automatically drawn closed by the new AutoClose function: All that is required on the part of the user is to apply gentle pressure against the door for it to be drawn closed and locked automatically. Additional convenience and excellent ergonomics is offered by the new and patented salt container which has now been relocated from inside the chamber to the door. Replenishing salt is now extremely simple and easy on the back and can even be performed with the machine loaded, without having to remove the lower basket for access.
New high-end control panel
The new, high-end control panel also doubles up as a door handle, for a perfect fusion of design and function. Touch-on-steel technology makes for exceedingly simple operation and ease of cleaning. A quick tap on the screen is sufficient to select and launch programmes. The display in the centre of the control panel provides information on programme selection - in the user's own language. Optionally, various parameters such as actual temperature or the cycle number can be displayed. The three most frequently used programmes can be saved as favourites and launched at the tap of a fingertip using the quick selection button.
A new upper basket simplifies everyday work in practices. With its 22 injector nozzles, this basket can be fitted with the appropriate accessories for the reprocessing of all types of lumened dental instruments - from saliva extractors to turbines, handpieces and contra-angles. A universal adapter is available to facilitate the connection of transmission instruments of different sizes. It is simple to use and automatically provides a secure hold for each instrument. Stainless-steel retainers also ensure that instruments are held securely during reprocessing and minimise contact points on the outside of instruments.
The internal cleaning of transmission instruments is reliant on the good filtration of the wash liquor in circulation. For this purpose, a new central tubular filter has been created which considerably cuts costs to users. They are inserted into injector rails and can be simply removed for cleaning. Compared with the approach adopted on the previous series, the new filter increases the filter surface by almost 300%, reliably protecting expensive instruments against damage caused by foreign matter.
Computer network integration
In order to facilitate the complete documentation of process data from reprocessing equipment, disinfectors can be hooked up to a dental practice's network to allow software programme to collate and archive data. Alternatively, machines can also be connected to a printer for the documentation of data.
New EXCELLENCE Sterilier
The new Miele PS 1201B EXCELLENCE steriliser to be launched in 2016 and will feature a PerfectTouch display. This model is extremely simple to operate and the smooth glass fascia lends itself to cleaning and wipe disinfection. The cycle times on the new steriliser are extremely short, with a 134°C B-class cycle for a 6kg load lasting only 21 minutes. The short programme for unwrapped instruments or handpieces and contra-angles requires only 13 minutes.
