At the recent ADX Australian Dental Expo in Melbourne, Sirona Dental Systems launched a major evolution in its range of dental units with the SINIUS Treatment Centre. First shown at IDS 2011 in Cologne in April, the SINIUS follows the pedigree of the TENEO, incorporating revolutionary new design concepts to aid practitioners in the delivery of care.
With its bright red upholstery, the SINIUS was an instant drawcard for visitors at both ADX and IDS, who were impressed by its sleek new design and innovative and efficient features. Interest from dentists viewing it for the very first time was strong and resulted in numerous sales on the stand (Figure).
SINIUS is positioned as the new mid-range treatment centre from Sirona and will sit alongside Sirona's other mid-range treatment units from the C+ generation, the C3+/C4+/C5+, which remain available to purchase (Figure 5b).
SINIUS is available either as a sliding track version or a whip arm version. The sliding track offers the popular side delivery manual parallel track option well known to users of Sirona's C4+, C4, and E1 units. This system is also known to dentists via the TENEO, M1+, C2+, C2, C1 and M1, although these units have had the track side delivery system motorized.
The SINIUS CS option provides users with a new Continental/Whip Arm delivery system offering a maximum working distance between the dentist element and handpiece of 90cm - sufficient to cater for every conceivable treatment situation and the physical needs of patients.
In either version, SINIUS offers substantial features and benefits to both the dentist and the patient.
A newly designed patient chair with adjustable active lumbar support allows operators to select a comfortable support for each patient, thermo (heat removing) upholstery and two headrest choices (Double Articulating or Motorized) amongst other features, allowing the patient to relax whilst giving the operator the opportunity to concentrate fully on delivering treatment. At its lowest position, the patient chair also accommodates the specific needs of children and the elderly (Figure 6, Figure 7, Figure 8).
For the dentist, the EasyTouch user interface offers state-of-the-art touch screen technology providing the basis for integrating new user-friendly functions. It is simple to use from the outset and no prior knowledge is required. Only those functions that you need at any given time are displayed in the treatment process. The EasyTouch is your passport to future-proof technology.
Advantages to the dentist mean the ability to choose from premium instrumentation options, including the Endodontic Treatment Function with built in digital Apex Locator. Special functions such as a file library are available at the touch of a button. Compared to the set up time and use of a conventional table top unit, you can save minutes of your valuable time.
Treatment consults are more versatile and effective with the sophisticated yet easy to use multimedia functions. At the touch of a button, you can display intra oral images, panoramic and 3D X-rays, as well as video and PowerPoint presentations.
The SiroCam AF Intra Oral Camera expands images to 22" via the medical grade monitor. You also have the option of displaying software and planning data on the monitor in order to advise patients and speed up the decision-making process. You can also help your patients relax by showing entertaining and informative video clips.
The SINIUS also does not leave infection control to chance either. Built-in Sanitation Adapters conveniently located in the water unit allow instrument and suction hoses to be rinsed with water automatically at the touch of a button. Chemical rinsing agents can also be deployed.
Whilst you are taking care of your patients, the SINIUS takes care of you. Intuitive sitting positions, comfortable patient positioning, optimum visibility, and efficient clinical and hygiene features maximise your job satisfaction - even on long busy days!
