Two prophylactic powders for all clinical applications

EMS is expanding its range of tried and tested prophylactic products by adding two new types of powder. The completely novel Air-Flow® Powder Plus is suitable for both subgingival and supragingival treatments.

The new Air-Flow® Powder Plus from EMS offers several clinical benefits. It can be used subgingivally to remove biofilm even from the deepest periodontal pockets. It can also be applied supragingivally to clean and polish the teeth. In future users will only need two powders to perform all clinical applications effectively, safely and with optimum patient comfort. The Air-Flow® Classic Comfort for severe supragingival stains and the Air-Flow® Powder Plus for everything else. "With the Air-Flow® Powder Plus we have successfully developed a completely novel prophylactic powder, which is suitable for indications above as well as below the gingival border. It enables practitioners to perform prophylactic treatment that is efficient, safe and comfortable", according to Mikael Bonora, Product Manager for the Air-Flow® range of EMS Electro Medical Systems. This further reduces treatment time by a considerable margin.

Extrafine grains produce a very dense jet of powder

The special action of the powder is attributable to the new ingredient erythritol and the extra-fine grains that measure only 14 microns. Erythritrol is a tried and tested food additive that occurs in fruit among other things. "The specially small erythritol grains produce a very dense jet of powder. The impact per grain on the treated surface is minimal", explains Bonora. By changing to the Air-Flow® Powder Plus, practitioners who have previously used the proven EMS Perio and Soft prophylactic powders achieve an identical cleaning action with considerably improved patient comfort when treating above the gum margin. In addition: the new EMS powder is as safe and pleasant for patients as the Perio powder, and because of the antibacterial action of chlorhexidine just as efficient. Now different clinical indications can be treated using a single powder with no interruptions, powder changes or time wastage. And additional polishing is no longer required.

Additional comfort with Classic Powder

EMS recommends its new Air-Flow® Classic Comfort for stubborn stains in the supragingival area. It is initially available on the market in a lemon flavour, and is as efficient as the tried and tested Classic Powder, though much more pleasant for patients because of its smaller grain size. "Practitioners now only require two powders to perform all clinical applications effectively, safely and with optimum patient comfort.
