The University of Montpellier in France has presented the Medal of Honor, the university's highest recognition, to Dr Dan Fischer, founder and CEO of Ultradent Products, Inc., who received the award on behalf of the company.
A reception and celebration followed where Dr Fischer, Ultradent's management team in France and SEMEA and Dirk Jeffs, Ultradent's president, celebrated with many of the university's faculty and students.
Dean of the University, Philippe Gibert, called the award a "mark of gratitude for the involvement of Ultradent in training future dentists at Montpellier and for their important contribution to the teaching of dentistry."
Since 2009, Ultradent has been involved in the University's dental program, helping provide practical training to students in tooth whitening, adhesions, veneers, and even management and leadership through product support, training, and lecturing. Additionally, Ultradent supported the creation of a post-graduate diploma by Dr Bruno Pelessier in aesthetic and restorative dentistry, which has become the most widely recognised and reputable professional diploma for working dentists in France.
Ultradent has also helped the university develop a master class on posterior restorations that is not only available at the University's main campus in France, but also at outposts on the islands of Réunion, Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Upon receiving the Medal of Honor, Dr Fischer said, "Receiving this award was very humbling and a sweet gesture by our colleagues at the University of Montpellier, including Dr Bruno Pelessier. I was very honoured to accept it on behalf of the entire company and everyone's hard work and effort in the partnership."
