The Agar Wiz has already been called the “most convenient alternative for agar duplicating”. What also needs to be mentioned is how affordable and practical it is and how well it preserves the life of the agar. You still need to finely chop or grate the agar - adding up to 2kg at a time - then set the unit at 90 degrees Celcius. After 20 minutes, start stirring with the rotor, then 40 minutes later, set the unit to 50 degrees Celcius and wait for the agar to drop to that temperature so it can be used as a gel in the conventional way. This process ensures the agar will not be overheated or stressed in any way and it allows you to set and forget, unlike the microwave technique that requires a far more hands on and waiting around approach. Spare jugs and parts available separately. Heavy duty motor and heating element come with the confidence of a 2-year warranty.
